NATHALIA RECREATION RESERVE, NATHALIA
Client: Moira Shire Council
Timing: Nov 22 – May 23
Surface Type: Acrylic
iDwala was proud to collaborate once again with Moira Shire Council after being awarded the construction tender for the redevelopment of the Nathalia Netball Courts in northern Victoria, approximately 234 km north of Melbourne.
The two aging, non-compliant courts were in need of a complete upgrade. iDwala replaced them with Netball Victoria-compliant courts, featuring a high-performance, netball-specific acrylic surface applied by Total Sport and Floor, along with new netball goal posts.
Commencing in November 2022, the project also involved the construction of a durable concrete pavement foundation for the courts. Concrete pavement curing in regional areas of Australia can be a significant challenge due to the high water demands—typically requiring over 10,000 liters of water per day for approximately 7 days. In many regional communities, water is a scarce resource, often needing to be transported in or drawn from limited rainwater tanks.
In line with iDwala’s commitment to sustainable development, and in partnership with Total Sport & Floor and Moira Shire Council, we adopted an innovative curing compound. This advanced solution ensured proper curing of the concrete slab, resulting in a strong and durable surface, without the excessive use of over 70,000 liters of water. Importantly, this approach also preserved the warranty of the surfacing materials.
iDwala is proud to have delivered a high-quality, sustainable sporting facility that will benefit the Nathalia community for years to come.
