EDITHVALE RECREATION RESERVE, Edithvale Victoria
Client: City of Kingston
Timing: June 2022
Surface Type: Synthetic Grass
With the growing population in Edithvale and its surrounding suburbs, the demand for high-quality community sport and recreation facilities continues to rise. In response to this growth, iDwala was engaged to design the redevelopment of the Edithvale Little Athletics Track — ensuring the precinct remains fit-for-purpose for both current and future generations.
The design solution delivered by iDwala included a new hardstand ‘D section’ featuring an athletics-approved synthetic surface, catering specifically to both senior and junior Javelin events. The scope also involved critical drainage upgrades for the new section, as well as the restoration of two existing discus cages and two shot put areas.
Working carefully within the existing athletics track, iDwala’s design team ensured that no running space was compromised. The redevelopment also required seamless integration with the pre-existing irrigation system and infrastructure, which guided precise level and alignment planning. Additionally, the level design for the D-Area took into consideration any potential future development of the natural turf athletics track.
This revitalised facility reflects the City of Kingston’s commitment to fostering active, healthy communities. iDwala is proud to contribute to a project that not only supports athlete development but also enhances the long-term usability and sustainability of a valued community asset.
