Following the removal of the Seaford Road level crossing, Frankston City Council undertook a major transformational redevelopment of the RF Miles Recreation Reserve in Seaford, Victoria.
Home to Seaford Football Netball Club and Seaford Cricket Club, the $9.15 million redevelopment, funded by Council, Victorian and Federal Governments was designed to deliver a new two-story pavilion with female friendly facilities, a larger oval to meet AFL standards, new netball courts and cricket nets, car parking, oval lighting and new equipment.
iDwala was engaged as the principal contractor responsible for the construction of the new netball court complete with superior perimeter fencing, lights and shelters along with the three practice cricket nets.
The cricket nets were fitted with 9mm Australian-made SuperGrasse Shield synthetic turf whilst the netball court was surfaced with Australian-made Laykold Advantage in line with the club’s chosen colour scheme, Silver.
Given the site’s unique characteristics including the close proximity to the neighbouring coastline, high elevation, sandy soil and the declining slope of the site, high level retaining walls with superior footings were installed to keep the facility structure safe and secure, inclusive of balustrades for pedestrian safety. As part of the works, iDwala was also asked to redesign the levels of the netball court to ensure compliant grades and falls were met and that both netball and cricket areas would complement each other.
Working closely with the Council and other key contractors, iDwala was delighted to contribute to the development of this wonderful project.
