iDwala was awarded the construction contract for the development of four brand new tennis courts at Beechworth Tennis Club in Baarmutha Park by Indigo Shire Council. This project was set to deliver four competition standard tennis courts, new LED lighting with a cushioned acrylic surface constructed on a concrete base.
The scope of this exciting project also provided for site preparation, court fencing, and competition standard low-level LED lighting. Thanks to iDwala’s significant construction knowledge and experience, the team were successfully able to identify and navigate poor soil conditions and a weak underlying subgrade requiring additional stabilisation, to address the excessive softness issues.
Indigo Shire Council selected a Rebound Ace mat-lay surfacing system which features a two-tone, blue colour combination and provides market leading cushioned comfort, and shock absorbency to users. This was the first cushioned court system installed in Beechworth and Indigo Shire and has been receiving exceptional feedback ever since the opening of the facility. The courts have also been fitted with Tennis Victoria’s book-a-court system and are competition compliant.
Aside from providing modern, accessible and compliant tennis courts, the project will also deliver continuing economic, health and social benefits to the local community with forecasted increased participation in tennis by the local and wider Indigo Shire community. In the words of the Indigo Shire Council, ‘The project will enhance the amenity of Baarmutha Park for the local community and the broader region to enjoy.’
